Elementary - Reading

After a child learns how to read, a child switches to reading to learn. The best books are books like classics and living books with rich vocabulary. Don't forget too that if you use books for history and science that this counts for reading. I prefer to teach reading in conjunction with a subject to make reading meaningful. So some reading should be assigned by you in the early grades so your child's reading diet stays varied and then let your child choose what he wants to read too. Readers become lifelong readers because they have the right to choose what genre interests them.
